6. Learning Materials
A quality adult literacy and basic education program uses a variety of appropriate learning materials.

  1. Learning materials are suitable for adults.
  2. Staff are aware of gender, racial and cultural bias in learning materials and choose resources to teach about bias in the context of the resources, and to generate critical thinking.
  3. Staff are aware of sources for free or cheap learning materials, such as museums, on-line websites, etc.

6C Learning materials are current.

  1. The program has access to up-to-date books, computer and science equipment, maps, etc.
  2. Learning materials reflect current research and are up-to-date.
