to Think About Choosing special words can make your writing more interesting. For example,
we could say: The rivers were teeming with fish. When the settlers came to Inverness, was the coal really “peeking” out of the rocks? Using this word lets us imagine that only a little bit of coal was showing, as if it were peeking. And when we say the hills “would come alive with the sound of bagpipes” we don’t really mean the hills would be alive. We really mean many people would be playing bagpipes. Try using your imagination to make these sentences more interesting. 1. The leaves in fall are pretty. ______________________________________________________ 2. That movie frightened me. _____________________________________________________ 3. The sound of that waterfall is very loud. ______________________________________________________ |
