Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone, once explained his feelings about inventing this way: “Leave the beaten track … and dive into the woods. Every time you do so you will … find something that you have never seen before.” This happened to Bell many times.

The Telephone

Bell is most famous as the inventor of the telephone, but he was interested in many other things. In fact, he saw himself mainly as a teacher of the deaf. His mother and wife were deaf. Bell knew how isolated they felt when they could not communicate with others. The importance of sound and communication were always in the back of Bell’s mind.
