Multiplying and Carrying in the Tens

Example: 27 time 3

Step 1: Multiply the ones: 7 x 3 = 21

Step 2: Fill in the ones place: 1 placed in the ones' place in the answer

Step 3: Carry the tens: 2 from 21 placed above the number 2 in 27

Step 4: Multiply the tens by the bottom number: 2 x 3 = 6

Step 5: Add up the tens: 2 + 6 = 8

Step 6: Fill in the tens place: 8 placed in tens next to the ones
