Percent

The symbol % means “percent” and refers to an amount out of 100.

1% is the same as ¹⁄₁₀₀  or  0.01

For example,

24% = 24 x ¹⁄₁₀₀ = ²⁴⁄₁₀₀ or⁶⁄₂₅

or

24% = 24 x .01    =.24
