There are three areas of mountains in Canada. They are the Appalachian Mountains, the Innutian Mountains, and the Western Cordillera.

The Appalachian Mountains are located from Georgia in the USA to Newfoundland. These mountains have eroded to hills and rolling mountains.

The Innutian Mountains are in northern Canada. These frozen mountains have not yet been affected by erosion.

The Western Cordillera is along western Canada. The Cordillera has three mountain ranges: the Rocky Mountains, the Interior Plateau and Mountain ranges, and the Coast Mountains. The Rocky Mountains are located on the eastern side of the Cordilleria. The Coast Mountains are along the coast of British Columbia.

The highest mountain in the world is Mount Everest. It is located on the border of China and Nepal. In November of 1999, its official height was 8,848 meters. Most of us will never see Mount Everest, but many will get to enjoy our Canadian mountains.
