Glaciers -- Large Bodies of Ice Do you ever wonder
if glaciers existed in Nova Scotia? Well, they did! Starting two million
years ago, glaciers covered our area from time to time. Scientists are
unsure of when the first glaciers developed in Nova Scotia. The last
known glaciers in Nova Scotia existed about 20,000 years ago. Glaciers are large bodies of ice that move slowly down a slope or valley or spread outward on a land surface. They move like slow rivers. They move because they are very heavy. Glaciers are made up of snow that has turned to ice. |
