How do I make inferences?
The best way to make inferences is to carefully read the facts and details
presented. It is also important to understand how the facts and details
are organized. Making notes, highlighting, numbering, and outlining can
help you keep track of important details, facts, examples, and events.
Knowing all of the “important” details will help you predict
the “the next step”. Important details support the main idea.
There may be other details which make the story more enjoyable, yet they
do not contribute to making an inference. Once you have all of the facts
and you know how they have been organized, you are ready to “read
between the lines”.
