to create humour.

Irony
Irony can be observed when a writers intended message is clearly the
opposite of what is written.
Yeah, sure I agree with you.
Flashback
Flashbacks are descriptions of previous events during the present time
in a narrative. Writers will describe previous events to provide background
or to help explain more recent events.
Foreshadowing
Foreshadowing is the use of words , phrases, or actions as signals that
readers can use to infer future events in a narrative.
Years later, she would be known for that secret deed.
