Similes
Similes are comparisons between two things. The words like or as are
used. Writers use metaphors to create a detailed image for the reader.
Readers are able to get vivid mental images without having to read a long
description.

“A twitch, a twitter,
an elastic shudder in flight”
And serrated wings against the sky,”
Like a glove, a black, thrown up at the light”
And falling back.” |
Float like a butterfly, sting like
a bee.”

Personification
Personification is giving human-like thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
to objects or ideas. The writer makes the association of powerful human
emotions to objects, situations, and ideas. Writes use this technique
to stir the emotions of the reader.
