Spare Tire
by Harry Butterfield.

The best way to make ends meet in this world is to always have a spare. In other words, look ahead. When you drive a car you wouldn't think of going anywhere without a spare tire. The same thing applies in life. manWhen you are working and get your cheque, put so much away in the bank. I didn't do this because I thought I had it made with 32 years seniority. The owner told me I would be working there until I retired. So never leave anything to chance. That's what I would tell all the young people starting out today, to always have a spare tire because the whole world could come down on you. Then you wake up one morning and you're old, no job, no money, no education. No one wants you. Your pride is gone and you have to take scraps from the welfare. It would be a good idea, when you're young and have a job but no education, to go to night school because you'll never know when you will need it. A spare tire.
