This book condenses a huge amount of research on reading into simple and usable strategies for adult literacy instructors. It would be a valuable resource for beginning and experienced instructors alike. It comes with two videos which clearly illustrate the teaching strategies.

The CARA manual describes the assessment process clearly and includes all the information you need for diagnosis or placement. CARA helps you find patterns in learners’ reading; then you can consult Teaching Adults to Read to find teaching strategies which suit each learner’s reading pattern.
