Updated Essential Skills Profiles – Interview with Sylvie Morissette – Manager, OLES
[Audio – 6:31]

This audio file is part of a series of podcasts developed by the Policy and Planning division of the Office of Literacy and Essential Skills (OLES), Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

In it, the manager of the Essential Skills Profiles group within OLES talks about a project carried out in 2011 to ensure that the profiles are current and representative of today's occupations. Fifty profiles, chosen from a variety of economic sectors, were selected for updating.

The updates include adding information on how each occupation is affected by digital technology; developing task statements for each occupation; and replacing the "computer use" skill domain with "digital technology" to reflect a more up-to-date concept of skills and tasks.
