![]() THE STUDENT'S COLUMN - by Arnie Stewart Welcome students, tutors, literacy practitioners and all interested learners. We have had another wonderful year. We have had many meetings. In St. Catharines, we have a students group that meets the first Monday of each month. We volunteer to help out at a local church for In From the Cold. We greet the people, help to feed them and do clean up in the morning. The students participated in Literacy Action Day in February in Ottawa and spoke to members of parliament to let them know how important the need for literacy issues are. We attended a wonderful learning experience at the AGM for Laubach Literacy Ontario, Laubach Literacy of Canada and Laubach Literacy Action (USA). It was a great opportunity to meet so many learners. ![]() We are beginning a students group for all Canada. It will be great to speak to so many people from all areas with different ideas to help each other to learn easier ways to read and write. With the help of your tutor, you can also learn to read on the computer. You can chat all over the provinces to many new people. You can chat on Alphacom at http://alphaplus.ca or on the trainingpost.org. Hope to hear from you all real soon! |
