Straight From The Heart

The following stories were written by adult basic education students.

Valentine’s Day

Greeting cards, chocolates, and gifts from the heart,
on February 14 they play a big part
in showing that special someone
how much you do care
and the love you feel for them is so rare.

Special feelings arise on Valentine’s Day,
as Cupid’s arrow makes its way
into the hearts and lives of everyone,
the dark clouds removed to reveal the bright sun.

Each day should be lived like Valentine’s Day,
life would be much more enjoyable this way.
Show others each day how much you really care,
and you, too, will feel loved
on February fourteenth, next year.

Sweetheart

Whenever I hear the wind blow
I think of you.
Whenever I see the stars shining brightly
I think of you.

You are the smile upon my face
You are the one I love to embrace.
These are just some of the things that make you, you.
Don’t ever change sweetheart.

You are what makes my world go around.
Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart.
May you always bring a smile to everyone
you meet, as you do to me.

Lost Love
Barry Vineham

Image of a broken heartIt was early in the morning. The mist, still on the flowers, made the air smell sweet. It would be a beautiful day, but not for me. My girl of four years, a love which not everyone falls into, had passed away.

A female drunken driver didn’t see her coming out of the store. She took not only a daughter and a sister, but a person who brightened up the world like the sun. She was the woman I loved.

She took her away from those who cared for her the most - her family, her friends and me. Marie’s green eyes and red hair made her a prize for any man. But Marie was mine, all mine. Falling in love with her was easy. She was one of a kind. She was like a beautiful cut diamond. Her beauty was like no other.

Valentine’s Day is a day of love. But how can I be happy when the woman of my dreams is gone, gone like a summer’s breeze? Oh God, if only we could hold each other again just to say good-bye. If only, if only.

The Love of My Life
Ronald Fudge

CupidWhen I stood on the street of gold on that day she meant the world to me. She was the love of my life. When we met the love began with us and we were meant to love each other. Love is like a river that flows from deep within the heart. When our hearts started to beat on that special day they were beating faster and faster by the minute. Then her heart started to beat with mine. That night we drank wine and watched the fireworks and we loved every minute of it. She was indeed the love of my life.

Today we are a happily married couple and we have two beautiful daughters.

Make a new friend, read a book.
