Paula Power Hi, my name is Paula Power. I work at the Employment Preparation Centre in Corner Brook. One of the programs we have is called the Learning Centre. Men and women come to class every day to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. If you would like to come to class or know someone else who is interested, please call me at 639- 1966. You can also call our teacher Jane, at 634- 7436. We will set up a time for you or your friend to come and see us.

When you come to visit, we will show you our classrooms. You will also get a chance to meet our teacher who will ask you some questions about your reading. She will also help you fill out a form if you want to start classes. You may not be able to get into class right away" but we will help you get started at home. We can arrange for you to have a free tutor while you are waiting.

Please give us a call. We will be more than happy to help you improve your chances of success in the workplace.

Doris Hapgood Hi, my name is Doris Hapgood. I am the administrator of the Rabbittown Learners' Program. I realized my passion for literacy in 1992 when I was employed at the Rabbittown Community Centre. I had been a tutor and volunteer at the Centre. For the past five years I have been the administrator of the Centre. I really enjoy encouraging and motivating adult learners as I watch them build self esteem and confidence. This experience has led me into areas where I have helped learners explore new approaches to learning.

The Rabbittown Learners' Program has been in operation since 1988. The program is a full-time structured Basic Literacy Level Program serving adults in St. John's and surrounding areas. Learners are exposed to English, reading, math, writing, science, social studies, basic computers, and a wide range of critical thinking skills. We work with the whole person, including his or her strengths and weaknesses, hopes, and future goals. Success is measured not only through academic testing, but also through personal growth and development. You can contact the Rabbittown Learners' Program by calling (709) 579-6033. You can also E-mail us at rtlp@avint.net.

Why not give us a call or drop by for a visit sometime! We would love to hear from you

Hi, my name is Lillian Moores. I work at the Literacy Outreach Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor. Students come to the Centre for many reasons. Some students come to improve their reading, writing, and math skills, and others come to learn English as a second language.

We have been in operation since 1990 working with 50 to 60 students a year. Many of our students continue at the college and complete levels two and three of the adult basic education program. Students come to the Centre from many communities throughout the province. Most students are full-time, students but we also welcome part-time students. We are part of the College of the North Atlantic.
