As Sisters

(A poem Clarissa composed for her sister)

We're best friends, because we know each other like no one else ever. When we were growing up, we were inseparable, I remember us as little kids swinging on swings, climbing trees and walking to school together. We always had different interests but that never stopped us from being best friends. We grew up as sisters and as we got older, we found out that we wanted different things out of life.

We began to shine in different ways but that never stopped us from being best friends either. We gained strength from each other's talents and we respected our differences.

We have become strong, independent, and unique individuals who are inseparable in a special way. No one can ever replace the kind of friendship that we share because it is an emotional bond untouched by other relationships for these simple reasons. We've known what the other has felt, almost all our lives.

I remember all the times we stayed up talking, we share these special memories and many others and even though we cannot always share our day to day lives now, we will always hold our memories close to us and quietly understand.

My Old Man

by Ryan Tavenor

My old man went ridin', he went off to sea.
He went past the weather,
the moonlight set him free.

My old man went ridin,
he went out to sea.
He sailed past the- weather,
all that was left was me.
