And We're Back by Cal Coish

We are pleased to bring you this first issue of the new First-Time Readers. We are planning four issues between now and next April. The second issue will be published just before Christmas.

The editors would like to say thank you to the Peter Gzowski Invitational Golf Tournament for Literacy for funding this paper. Thanks also to the Central Newfoundland Regional College, the National Literacy Secretariat, Wayne Taylor, of the Literacy Development Council, Ed Smith, and our advisory committee. A special thank you to Don McDonald of the Literacy Development Council for getting this project on the go again.

Let us know what you think of this edition of First-Time Readers. Send us your ideas for stories or items you would like us to cover. Letters to the editor are welcome. We are also looking for possible names for this paper. Look for the suggestion form on page 8. We may decide to keep the name First-Time Readers or we may pick a new name. You can have a say in this decision. Get in touch with us by phone, fax, mail, or e-mail.

We hope you like the new First-Time Readers. Keep on reading and learning.
