Literacy Development Council - New Staff MembersThe Literacy Development Council would like to extend best wishes to Della Coish and Patricia McCarthy who both recently left their positions at the Council office. Della has moved to Texas and Patricia decided to enter the real estate business on a full-time basis. The LDC wishes to commend both of these ladies for their tremendous contribution to literacy. The position of Executive Director with the Literacy Development Council has been fIlled by Kimberley J Gillard and Jennifer Petten has taken the position of Administrative Assistant.
Kimberley Gillard Executive Director
Kim has worked in the literacy field since 1995 when she was Literacy Coordinator with LIFE Inc. (Learning Information for Everyone). LIFE Inc. was a non-profit, volunteer, community-based organization that focused on addressing the literacy and learning needs in the Twillingate, New World Island and Change Islands area. More recently, Kim has worked with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association for Adult Education. Kim was the Project Coordinator with the NLAAE's Common Threads project which involved bringing groups together to network and share information, resources and ideas around literacy and learning. Kim brings to the position of Executive Director a true passion for literacy and learning and the Council looks forward to working with Kim to adress literacy issues In our provInce. ![]() Jennifer Petten Administrative Assistant Most of Jennifer's past work experience was with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEG). Jennifer was Executive Assistant with PEG for seven years. Jennifer is excited about her new role with the LDC and is looking forward to helping promote literacy in this province.
