The The Literacy Development Council is a Canadian registered charitable organization dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of a more literate society for Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Council will address the needs of the Province through the development and implementation of a provincial strategic plan focused on the provision, coordination, and promotion of quality literacy programs and services.
The Council believes that tutors and instructors require the best information available to ensure quality programming. Through a Committee representing major stakeholders in the Province, the Council has identified a set of criteria for the development and preparation of a tutor training program for adult literacy providers. The Council plans to assemble the greatest possible compilation of tutor training and resource materials, and to make this resource available for their personal professional development. The Council also intends to develop course modules, where none are already available, to fully round out the program. We are now in the process of identifying those programs, modules, and independent training materials that may already be available to support the professional preparation and development of our literacy providers.
We want to ensure that you have an opportunity to submit your materials for possible inclusion in the resource bank for this program. Your materials will not be used by the Council without your consent
We encourage you to become an integral part of this exciting venture, and invite you to submit a copy of your program material to:

The Literacy Development Council is prepared to reimburse you for any costs related to your submission. In order to meet our deadlines, we would appreciate a response by July 19, 1996. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
