Literacy Development Council Members


In the Fall of 1999 an election was held to place new members on the Literacy Development Council of Newfoundland and Labrador. Presently the Literacy Development Council is made up of the following members:

Edward Wade ( St. John's)
Kevin Manuel (Lewisporte)
Bessie Merrigan (Pasadena)
Agnes Pike (West St. Modeste)

The first meeting of these members of the Literacy Development Council will be March 23-25, 2000.

A major Atlantic Canada Conference focusing on Canadian Children's Literature co-sponsored by the Newfoundland and Labrador Teacher's Association (NLTA) Learning Resources Council and the St. John's Branch of the Children's Literature Roundtable.

This conference will give teachers, librarians and parents an opportunity to see and hear some of the best Canadian children's and young adult authors and illustrators, along with educators who successfully incorporate the work of these creators into their classroom experiences.
