A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT...

As I write this, we are well into autumn, but still experiencing some glorious summer weather. It has truly been a long, hot summer, and one that we won’t soon forget. My sympathies go out to all those who were directly impacted by the Okanagan Mountain Park fire; I hope that your lives have at least settled into an acceptable routine, if not returned to normal.

Our Annual General Meeting is approaching and we are recruiting three new Directors to fill positions on our twelve member Board. We are growing into a productive, dedicated team, and look forward to the fresh ideas and knowledge that new Board Members bring with them. For more information, call our Board Secretary, Elaine at 862-5841.

Project Literacy lost a long-standing member and supporter recently. Betty Knox joined PLKS in the very early years, and served as President for many of those years. Betty tutored many learners, and often hosted Project Literacy functions in her home. She was also actively involved in many other community organizations, but eliminating illiteracy was her avocation. She will be deeply missed.

- Barb Donaldson, Board President, PLKS
