Computer Tips

Single Clicks

Many people find it difficult “double clicking” icons. With some practice it gets easier and quicker, but it you would prefer to only have to “single click”, it is easy to change your computer settings.

  1. Right-click your Start button and select “Explore”.

  2. Once Windows Explorer opens, hit the Tools menu, Folder Options.

  3. Click the Web Style radio button and hit OK. You may be asked to confirm you really want singleclick icons.

Printing Just A Bit of a Page

Sometimes you may want to just print part of a web page or an email instead of all the page(s). It’s easy to do, and you’ll save some trees at the same time! Note: this tip may not work on every system, but it is worth trying....

  1. First, select the area you would like to print.

  2. Next, from the file menu, select Print...

  3. When the printer dialogue box comes up, look for an option for “Selection”, in a “Print Range” frame. ( not all printers / software support this.)

  4. Click Print.

If you can’t print a selection, you can always copy and paste the stuff you want into a word processor and print it from there. Sure, it’s not nearly as much fun, but it’s better than printing out eight pages of junk just to get a small section of text. To copy information from a page, highlight the content you want and then go to your Edit menu at the top of the screen. Choose “copy”. Then go to Word or whatever word processing program you use. Decide where you want to place the copied text and then go to your Edit menu again and choose “paste”. That will then place the information onto your document.
