At-risk youth, graduating high school and PSE

Youth 15-30 years old

Career Focus:

The target audience is:

  • Youth between the ages of 15 and 30;
  • Post-secondary graduates;
  • Out-of-school; and
  • Not in receipt of EI benefits.

This participant profile is usually characterized by youth who have demonstrated achievement at the post-secondary level but can benefit from assistance to successfully launch their careers.

The targeted audience is youth facing barriers to employment or youth at-risk. Youth must be between the ages of 15-30 and out-of-school. The following list is used as a guide in the selection of participants;

  1. 1.high school non-completion
  2. 2. disability
  3. 3. Aboriginal origin
  4. 4. visible or ethnic minority
  5. 5. health, drug and/or alcohol-related problems
  6. 6. residence in rural or remote location
  7. 7. lone (single) parent
  8. 8. low levels of literacy and numeracy
  9. 9. language barriers
  10. 10. street involvement
  11. 11. contact with justice, child welfare or social
  12. assistance systems
  13. 12. homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless
  14. 13. lack of social supports: family, friends or
  15. community supports
  16. 14. poor self-management and/or behaviour management abilities; or
  17. 15. other reasons (to be specified and assessed as partof the proposal approval process).

Summer Work Experience:

The target audience is:

  • Youth between the ages of 15 and 30; and
  • Have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.

The program targets students, who need work experience and earnings to continue their education, make career decisions and progress on their career paths.
