MEW is designed to increase the post-secondary participation rate of Aboriginal students through a comprehensive set of interventions that includes better information, academic support, mentoring, community involvement (work experience, internships, job shadowing, summer employment, community volunteerism and career exploration) and an Aboriginal curriculum (elective courses in Aboriginal Studies, Aboriginal Languages and Law). Workshops, activities and training sessions with parents and guardians are designed as part of the project to help parents better understand and assist their children with their educational needs and objectives.

The impact of the two interventions is being evaluated by a randomized controlled trial (RCT).
