![]() Dear Madam: Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 50 and 69. Since you fall into this age group, you are invited to take part in the "Breast Cancer Screening" program in our region. This "Breast Cancer Screening" program is especially designed to help in the early detection of cancer of the breast. By detecting cancer earlier, we will help reduce the number of women who die every year from this disease. The program consists of a special x-ray called a "mammogram", as well as education on how to do a breast self-examination and general information on breast health. A pamphlet describing the program has been included for your information. This is a free service and no doctor's referral is necessary. Simply call 1-800-727-1699 or 726-2194. Our secretaries, Estelle and Patsy, will be happy to arrange an appointment for you at the screening hospital nearest you. Please have your Medicare Card ready when you call. Traditionally, women have not been comfortable talking about breast health. Please don't let this fear stop you from calling. Act now!! Sincerely, ![]() Silvana Bosca. Encl.
