Interviewees were asked about library visits as a way to access reading material.
Table 12 shows that eight respondents did not have access to a public library.
Of nine people who had library cards when they were growing up, three visited
the public library regularly and six accessed the library occasionally. Five
people said they preferred to access reading material from their school library.
One person said her small town did not have a library and her parents did
not read to her. Because she had no books at home, “when I wanted to read,
I had to borrow books from my friends.”
