National Adult Literacy Database Inc. (NALD) is a federally incorporated, non-profit service organization. It is a comprehensive, up-to-date database of adult literacy programs, resources, services and activities across Canada. It also links with other services and databases in North America and overseas. NALD helps users build on the experience of over 5,900 contacts and programs (including Adult Basic Education, ESL, and FSL programs) from Newfoundland to the Yukon. NALD disseminates information through a website (see below), a toll-free telephone line, and a quarterly newsletter called Networks.
NALD is funded by Human Resources and Development Canada’s National Literacy Secretariat, and supported by the Government of New Brunswick, Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology, the Movement for Canadian Literacy, the Association of Canadian Community Colleges and ABC Canada.

National Literacy Secretariat, Human Resources and Development Canada (HRDC) acts as a catalyst and facilitator for literacy issues in Canada, forging co- operative relationships with public and private sector partners in a national effort to create a more literate Canada. Nobody’s Perfect of Health Canada is a training resource developed in 1988 to promote parenting skills and child development. Trained personnel are available at the provincial level through local health units. It is estimated that there are approximately 400 active Nobody’s Perfect facilitators across Canada and there are program coordinators in every province and territory. The Nobody’s Perfect workshop series is offered as a component of community based programs. Workshop topics include parent-child relations, accident prevention, emotional and intellectual development of children, child growth and health, and parenting.
Five colourfully illustrated paperbacks written in simple language have been prepared for parent use in the Nobody’s Perfect program.
