School Board: Kativik School Board

Note: The following services are available only to the Inuit clients in Nunavik. The school board's mandate is to serve the Inuit population where they live.

Workshop: Family Literacy

Goals: The goal is to assist parents in all areas of parenting, including the encouragement of reading and family literacy.

Target: Inuit parents

Description: A one-week parenting workshop is offered annually in each of the 14 communities served by the school board.

Event: Public Awareness

Goals: To increase awareness of the value of family literacy.

Target: Inuit families

Description: A family literacy event is held annually on January 27^th to bring awareness to the value of family literacy. Events differ from year to year, and have included radio readings, children's colouring contests and elder storytelling.
