Skilled Labourer Heavy Construction – Worker Intake Model – Manitoba – June 2006
The potential labourer or heavy equipment operator goes through a screening process.
The job requirements (allows individual to self-assess) are:
- Personal suitability -environment
- Technical aptitude - potential
- Essential and Employability skills
From here, two options are possible. Option A and B both lead to the industry assessments.
Option A :
One-week pre-training and assessment program.
One-week course includes assessment at an entry level in:
- Safety
- EEE* skills
- Dangerous goods
- First Aid
- Aptitude for construction
- Technical equipment skills
- WHMIS
- Job search
- Work experience
- * English, Essential and Employability
Option B:
Initial registration for one-day field assessment.
The industry assessments include:
- Potential Employment
- through a database or employment services
- Training Programs
- that meet the Provincial standard
- Other
- upgrading, adult learning centres, social services, literacy, work experience
- Skills Recognition Document
- upon presentation of evidence
