How do I begin to introduce new alignments?

Managing change often starts with changing the way you manage.
Here are some tips:
  1. Look at the way you timetable your program and re-design if necessary to block time for planning, discussing, reflection processes, etc. with the learners.
  2. Group and re-group learners for specific goal commonalities and learning activities.
  3. Hand some of the responsibility for tracking activities and progress to the learners.
  4. Provide explicit teaching of skills and orientation for self-reflection and peer evaluation forms of assessment.
  5. Change what makes sense within your program context. Your program does not have to look the same as another program. Although when learners have similar goals there may be some program elements in common, no two programs will ever look the same.
  6. Prioritize and plan for change: what changes? when? how fast? Take into account the time you have available and the comfort level of the learners (and tutors) when planning the speed of change.
