Biographies

Catherine Young Bates is an artist, author and professor of Fine Arts at Dawson College in Montreal. She has exhibited widely and has works in major private and public collections. She was art critic for The Montreal Star in the 1970s. Counterpane, a collection of her poems and drawings, was published in 1984.

Linda Perley Shohet is a teacher, researcher and writer who teaches English at Dawson College. She founded and directs The Centre for Literacy of Quebec, a literacy resource and teacher training centre. Since 1985, she has edited Literacy Across the Curriculum., a newsletter that links literacy in the schools, community and workplace.
