For two years, 30 women from across Canada took part in a program-based action research project that asked the question - What happens when some women in an adult literacy or basic education program decide to do something they define as woman-positive? Three books tell the stories of their experiences. The power of woman-positive literacy work - Program-based action research Betty-Ann Lloyd with Frances Ennis and Tannis Atkinson ' 8.5 x 11" - 256 pages - 70 photographs This book provides the background for the research, details the research process, and describes each program, its community, and woman-positive activity. It contains a collaborative analysis and makes a series of recommendations for program planning, professional education, provision of support services, coalition building, and policy analysis and development. Women in literacy speak - The power of woman-positive literacy work Edited by Betty-Ann Lloyd with Frances Ennis and Tannis Atkinson 8.5 x 11" - 188 pages - 23 photographs The women involved in this project documented their experience in many different ways. This book includes six materials written by students and staff, five reflective and analytic articles, two adaptations of interviews and journals, a policy paper, a story suitable for use as curriculum, , and a summary of the research process, collaborative analysis, and recommendations.
