SITUATION - Milika and Maria have finished their work in an employment preparation class and are talking quietly about learning.

Maria You know. . .I feel overwhelmed and discouraged. There is too
much to learn. . .new culture, new food, the way people act. . .new skills and even a new way of learning.
   
Milika Yes, I get those feelings sometimes. When I begin to feel that way,
I tell myself, "Relax or you'll go crazy." I repeat to myself, "One step at a time."
   
Maria But everything is so different. In classes in my country we never
talked to each other about ourselves or our goals. The teacher talked. We listened and read from books and memorized. We only spoke when the teacher asked us a question.
