Getting help for your
depression.
"Who should I talk to?"
You could talk with a therapist, a social worker,
or a counsellor. You could also talk with a member of the clergy, a
psychologist, or a psychiatrist. You could also join a self-help group.
If you want to find a good therapist, the best way
is to ask around.
- Ask someone who has been depressed. Ask them who
they talked to.
- Ask your doctor or your public health nurse to
recommend someone.
- Ask the local Canadian Mental Health
Association.
- Ask a Women's Referral Centre.
- Ask a Family Counselling Service. Family
Counselling Services have counsellors who will see you by yourself or with
members of your family. Their fees are very low or free for people with low
incomes.
Finding the right therapist for you is a very
personal thing. The therapist who is best for you may not be best for someone
else. |
