On Prison Education Consisting nineteen essays, this book offers new ideas on the meaning and objectives of prison education as something other than the pragmatic, functionalist, system-oriented correction of human behaviour. It challenges many present day assumptions and affirms that education is at the heart of the prison's function and is virtually its only hope of ever being more than a secure and efficient warehouse for society's legal outcasts.
