GUIDELINES FOR USING THE INDEX

The Index to Women's Education des femmes includes a Subject Index,
an Author Index, and a Title Index.

Subject Index

Citations are listed under each subject heading. Where there is more than one citation under a subject heading, citations are listed in alphabetical order by the author's last name.

Author Index

Citations are listed under author's, reviewer's, translator's, and illustrator's names. When there is more than one citation under a name, citations are listed alphabetically by title.

Title Index

Citations are listed alphabetically by title. Initial articles are ignored in filing; e.g. "a", "the", "an".

Book Reviews in the Subject Index

Book reviews are listed in the Subject Index under the heading "BOOK REVIEWS" and under other headings, such as "FICTION", "POETRY" and headings for the subject of a non-fiction book.

In the Author Index, book reviews are listed under the reviewer's name (followed by "rev") and under the author of the book reviewed.

In the Title Index, book reviews are listed under the title of the book reviewed.

Other Reviews in the Subject Index

Reviews of films, videos, art shows, periodicals, etc. are listed in the Subject Index under the heading "REVIEWS" and under other headings, such as "FILMS", "VIDEOS", "ART SHOWS", "PERIODICALS", and headings for the subject of the work reviewed.
