The following story was written by Michael Loonfoot, from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Michael is enrolled in literacy classes at the Aboriginal Learning and Literacy Centre in Winnipeg.
We saw the ducks landing on the water. They like landing on the water. When they hear the boat or gunshots they fly away. They are brown, white, and a little bit black. Sometimes they're different colours. They're nervous because they hear the 12 gauge shot gun. A man is hunting ducks and looks like he is carrying a bag of ducks. Other ducks did not get killed because they flew away to the other side of the lake. Soon, the ducks were all gone and the guy picked up his three decoys and went home.
