BOX 11: MAIN EVENTS ACTIVITY SHEET

Questions to Think About and Discuss

  1. Trace the main events of the story. (List or map them in the space below). Then discuss: Could you change the order of events or leave any of them out of the story? Why or why not?

  2. Did the story end the way you expected it to? What clues did the author put in the story to prepare you to expect this ending?

3. Suggests that while participants and volunteers are creating a common chart, they might wish to keep a record of the main events for themselves on the activity sheet (see Box 12 for an example based on The Closet).

NOTE: The volunteer guides the discussion and decision-making and records the list of main events on the chart. The instructors circulates to support the process and monitor the decision making about which main events to include and which to discard.
