READING WORKSHOPS: SECTION IREADING FOR MEANING AND REMEMBERINGSTRATEGY- SELF-OUESTIONINGOverview of Self-Ouestioning as an Interactive Reading Strategy Independent readers use strategies to set purposes, make connections between prior knowledge and information in the text, attend to text structure and monitor their comprehension. One strategy to facilitate interaction with the text and facilitate comprehension and recall is Self-Questioning. Using the title of the text and the pictures, participants generate questions regarding the story before, during and after reading. The questions direct their thinking while they read. The first two reading sessions focus on teaching the Self-Questioning strategy as well as on reading for pleasure and for fluency. General Objectives:
