Shared Resources
Communicator 4 is an integrated software suite. That is, the
various components of Communicator were specifically designed to work
together. There are also some features that are designed to be used by
more than one of the components.
Address Book
The address book is an electronic Rolodex. It can organize the
names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and much more, for
all your contacts. To access the address book, select it in the pop up
Communicator menu, as shown in Figure 2-1 1 above, or press
Ctrl+shift+2. This address book is accessible from any Communicator
component that may require addressing. The address book is shown in
Figure 2-12.
You will observe the series of buttons across the top of the address
book window. The "New Card" button is used to add a new
listing to the address book. The "New List" button is to
create a new mailing list. For example, if you routinely sent E-mail
to 30 recipients, it would become quite tedious to continually type in
the E-mail addresses of all 30 recipients. By selecting one mail list,
the same message could be sent to 30 people at the same time. The "New
Message" button is used to automatically start an E-mail message
to the person selected from the address list. The address book will be
looked at a little closer, later in this manual.
