Microsoft Fax

Now that Microsoft fax has been set up, it is relatively easy to use. There are two basic methods of sending a fax.

Sending a Quick Fax

This method is suited best for short, quick faxes where a large amount of formatting of the document is not required. Start Microsoft fax by clicking on the start button and selecting Programs...Accessories...Microsoft Fax...Compose New Fax as shown in Figure 8-13. The Compose New Fax dialog box will be displayed. In most cases, you will not be using a portable computer in which case you should select the box beside the statement that you are not using a portable computer as in Figure 8-14. If you check this item, this screen will not be shown to you again. Click on the Next button.

You will then be presented with a dialog box that will allow you to specify who the fax is to be sent to as in Figure 8-15. If you wish, you can fill this information in manually. If you enter the info manually, you must click the Add to List button to add the person's name to the recipient list. If you want to send the same message to additional persons, repeat this procedure. This is useful in the case where you do not wish to add a person to your address book. However, if the person or persons are already in your address book, click on the Address button. An Address Book dialog box will be displayed as in Figure 8-16a.
