Hazardous Materials WHMIS is an acronym for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It is a system used across Canada that gives information about the hazards of materials that may be bought, sold, used or made at a workplace. A hazard symbol is a picture inside a circle that warns the user that a hazard or danger exists in using or handling the product. The employer must instruct workers on the significance of hazard symbols. Workers must be able to interpret them properly. HAZARD SYMBOLS |
