How can phonics help?
Words are made by combining letters with specific sounds together. Words
can be divided into parts based on these sounds. These parts are called
syllables. Dividing a word into syllables will help you say and spell
it.
Each syllable has one vowel which makes a sound. If you clap every time
you hear a vowel sound in a word, you will be able to count the syllables
in a word. Look at the following examples; then try the exercise.
