Instead of seeing frustration I took the opportunity to teach these students at their levels, the levels ranged trom grade one to nine. I had a few students that had graduated from High school but they did not continue using the English language which in turn shows up as a lower grade level. I tested the students with the Reading Level Indicator at the beginning of the program. This provided me with the level of skill they had and I assigned them work at individual levels. Then I gave them tests that enhanced the writing skills they had and gave them opportunities to use the English language on a daily basis. I did this by giving them assignments for the next class also a spelling and grammar test at the beginning of each class. |
