Introduction to Andy's story Andy is a very talented student. Andy lives in a nursing home and works at W.D.D.S. He comes to literacy class twice a week. Andy competed in the Marion Drysdale Awards last year and was very surprised and honored to be the overall provincial winner. Andy was very proud to meet Gerard Kennedy, the Minister of Education. He won $300.00, a trophy, medallion and 2 certificates. Andy was also treated to a weekend in Toronto where he was recognized at the TVDSB conference. Andy was thrilled when Focus Productions came to our class and made a video of Andy showing everyone what Andy does in the classroom. Andy’s life has changed. He still can’t believe all of this happened and continues to make great strides in the literacy room working on a book about himself and his thoughts. Dianne Ward |
