On January 25, I did something that made me a true Vancouverite. I went to Whistler. Before this trip, I thought the only ways to enjoy the mountain was either by toboggan or sit-ski. It really felt weird to wear ski boots because of how heavy they were. When the boots were attached to skis, it was like my feet had become trees because of the length of the skis. The hardest thing to learn about skiing is how to ski uphill. I think that it should be tossed. It was a whole different story learning how to move. It was neat learning to slide. Skis are like puzzle pieces because you just click them into place and you are ready to go. For lunch I went up on the gondola and saw why this area is so popular. I thought my instructor had a few screws loose when he mentioned that we were going to ski down the mountain from mid-station. On this run I used a ski bra which helps by preventing skis from crossing. When I finished the run I felt very proud that I had completed the Olympic run and the opportunity to ski where the world does and to finally do something that before, I had only been a television spectator. There was a double side because this was the biggest thing that I had accomplished without my dad who died of cancer.
