The Canadian Public Health Association’s (CPHA) National Literacy and Health Program (NLHP) raises awareness among health practitioners of the links between literacy and health in Canada. It promotes plain language and clear verbal communication in professional practice. In October 1997, NLHP established the Plain Language Service (PLS) as part of its commitment to literacy and health. In its six years of operation, the PLS has worked with over 150 clients from the private, public and voluntary sectors. |
