Today I spend my time doing volunteer work at several places. I go to Reena
and Safehaven and do almost everything. I really am “Mr. Everybody”.
I can fill in for almost anyone who works there. Sometimes people say, "I
came with the house"
. During July and August I volunteer at Summer Camp
in Collingwood. The patrons have various disabilities and I do a lot of different
chores when I am with them at the camp. I have been going there for eight years.
I also attend Frontier College once a week. I go there to learn, to expand on my knowledge. I enjoy expanding my knowledge and learning different ideas. I hope in ten years time I have acquired enough knowledge to reach my peak. I enjoy Frontier College’s Men’s Group. It gives me a greater perspective on life. There are two thousand different ways to reach the same thing.
Passover is a busy time for me. I work at the restaurant at Reena Foundation for eight days straight. I work peeling carrots, washing mushrooms and eggplants and as the dishwasher. These eight days are my busiest in the whole year. The people in my life right now are my brother Brian and his wife Norma. My niece Emma is very special to me also. Each one has a role in my life even if it’s not in the script.
Recently, I went to my club at Café Reena. The facilitator asked for someone to volunteer to write things down. When no one volunteered I jumped right in. Like jumping in the deep end. I wrote things down the best I could and I was very surprised and victorious to discover that I did fine. I guess I have been holding myself back in spelling. Now I won’t do that any more.
