Section 2: Consent to Health Care

You must consent to the health care you receive.

2.1 What is health care?

Health care includes any psychological, medical or social service, such as:

• an operation
• an examination
• a treatment
• a therapy
• taking a sample (urine or blood for example)
• a stay in a hospital, clinic, or centre.

2.2 What is consent to health care?

By law, you must consent (agree) to receive the health care. You cannot be forced to receive the health care. The consent can be written or verbal. You can also refuse to accept health care.
